Samsung has recently announced that they will soon start the mass production of a new line of translucent LCD displays. This new kind of display will be available in either color or black-and-white. It
offers 15 to 20% transparency depending on if it's in color or not (the black-and-white one goes up to 20%).
The panels also need far less power than the typical LCDs. The display has a 22 inches screen with a 500:1 contrast ratio, a 1680 x 1050 resolution and can connect to USB and HDMI inputs.
The price is still unknown. Initially this new tech will be probably used for outdoor billboards and showcase events.
It can be very useful, since it needs less power ( which means saving electricity and money) but, apart from this, there aren't much more utilities. Samsung can do better.
